Mangalore, Mar 24: District in-charge minister, Krishna J Palemar, said that the sports meets and cultural festivals of Yuvaka and Yuvati Mandals should give rise to healthy competition, and not enmity. He was speaking after distributing sports incentives to the Yuvaka Mandals of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts for the year 2009-10 at a function organized at the auditorium of the office of the district deputy commissioner here, under the aegis of Nehru Youth Centre on Tuesday March 23.
He advised the Mandals to utilize the incentive money for public utilities. He promised to put in efforts to ensure that the organizations which get recognition through their works meant for the benefit of the public get more money.
“The state government has released four crore rupees for laying a synthetic track in the city. Sports minister, Gulihatti Shekhar, has agreed to release a further sum of four crore rupees. The state government has been giving lot of encouragement to sports activities,” he explained.
Additional deputy commissioner, Prabhakar Sharma, regional transport officer, Purushottam, and district youth coordinator of Nehru Youth Centre, CJF D’Souza, were present.
