Mangaluru, Aug 19: A rickshaw driver had fled on June 7 with gold jewellery belonging to 72-year-old senior citizen Philomena Saldanha who lives alone near Chilimbi Panchalingeshwara temple, Urva police station limits. The rickshaw driver used to help the lady otherwise.
A case in this connection was registered under serial number 38/2020 and IPC section 380 in Urva police station.
Urva police station inspector and staff cracked the case, arrested accused Praveena (40), resident of Shakthinagar, Mangaluru and recovered part of the loot pledged by him in a bank in Falnir and the remaining part held by him in his custody collectively worth Rs 4,32,000. The accused has been remanded to judicial custody.
The operation was conducted by Urva police inspector Mohammed Sharif, PSI Srikala, Balakrishna, staff Prakash and Basavaraj Birader.
