New Delhi, Aug 19: Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, Kota Srinivas Poojary, met union minister for agriculture, Narendra Singh Tomar, at New Delhi on Tuesday August 18 and held discussions on different issues.
The issues he discussed included setting up of coordinated sea food park projects at Gangolli in Udupi district, Mavali in Uttara Kannada district and Baikampady, Mangaluru. Matter relating expediting of modernisation plans of eight fishing harbours in coastal Karnataka, upgradation of fishing docks at 16 places and various other projects were among the issues Poojary took up with the union minister. He urged Tomar to give approvals for these projects and sanction grants early so that they can come up as soon as possible.
The minister who went through the project reports, gave favourable response to the request. He assured to see that towards speedy implementation of the projects and towards putting to practice the concept of self-reliant India (Atma Nirbhar Bharat) envisaged by the Prime Minister, approvals would be accorded to these projects under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana and also release of grants for these projects would be expedited.
Director in the department of fisheries, Karnataka, Ramachari, was present during the discussions.
