Karkala, Aug 15: Ever since the lockdown was enforced, schools were also shut down as a precautionary measure for coronavirus. It gave rise to new forms of teaching, predominantly the online classes where education went digital. These unprecedented times led the school teachers to consider innovative and creative ideas of teaching online. It turned out to be quite challenging as the teachers had to make younger kids focus through this new form of teaching.

While teachers are devising new ways of making e-classes interesting, a video of a teacher from Jaycees English Medium School has gone viral. The video of the teacher has been garnering good response on social media. Vandana Rai is the teacher, who came up with an innovative idea to get students involved in online classes through the use of phonics.

The concept was developed by Vandana Rai and other teachers who joined her to make it possible. Along with Vandana Rai, Asha Gokhale, Rajani and Sridevi were also part of the video. They taught the children English and Kannada alphabets and various Kannada songs from the textbooks through videos. The teachers, for a better understanding of the concepts, danced and acted out different expressions.

Vandana has been teaching preschool children at Jaycees English Medium School in Karkala for three years. She has also set up Mayuri dance class at Karkala and Bajegoli. Vandana was also a dance instructor at Kidzee School in Bengaluru for 10 years. She has also won reality shows on Zee Kannada, Kasturi and ETV channel.

Speaking to Daijiworld Vandana said, "During the lockdown, I decided to come up with this innovative concept to teach children. It is a great and easy way to teach the kids and they also learn and pick up the concepts very quickly."

"I always come up with distinct ideas even for school day dance. I think of creative ideas to reach the masses. Similarly, I devised this plan to teach children where even my colleagues joined hands with me. While teaching Kannada alphabets, we used boards and performed actions so that it would be easily conveyed to the children," she added.

Even for Independence Day, we have shot three videos to wish students in a unique way, said Vandana.
