Kasargod, Aug 14: Stunning revelations have come to light through police investigation in the murder which took place at Balal here on Thursday, August 13.
Albin (22) killed his sister Ann Mary (16) by lacing ice cream with poison. He had planned to kill all the members of the family and make it look like a mass suicide. The family members could not make out that he was addicted to drugs.
It has come to light during investigation that Albin had the motive of murder in order to grab the four and a half-acre of the land of the family and live a lavish life with his lover. In addition, the family members had warned Albin against excessive use of mobile phone and this also led to him hatching a plot to kill his own family members.
The investigation also revealed that Albin did not share a good rapport with his deceased sister. He used to spend lots of money. He had lots of female friends and was living a lavish life. He thought that his family is a hurdle in his lavish lifestyle. He wanted to become rich overnight. This made him plot a plan to kill his family and was planning the same for months. He was studying ITI in Coimbatore. He did not even come home during the lockdown and was spending time with his friends.
The police are also looking into other angles which might have provoked Albin to kill his family.
Albin had reportedly also poisoned the chicken dish two weeks ago that was made at home. He did not consume the same saying that he was suffering from some digestive problems. But the amount of poison was less in the food. That is why the family members survived. He had gathered information about lacing food with poison by watching videos on YouTube.
On July 30, Albin laced ice cream with poison that was prepared at his home. The ice cream was kept in two separate containers. The first day Albin had ice cream along with other family members. He had mixed the poison in the other container, which the family members had consumed the next day except for Albin. He had cited throat pain as the reason and had not consumed the ice cream. After consuming the ice cream, the family members had health issues. But they did not take it seriously and went for herbal medicines.
In the midst of this, Ann Mary had Jaundice and was treated with Ayurveda. However, after three days her condition worsened. She was admitted to a hospital for treatment but did not make it through. When the doctors conducted post mortem they found traces of poison in her body. If Ann Mary would have received proper treatment at the beginning itself, she would have survived, say sources.
Albin had bought the poison from a shop in Vellarikundu on July 29. This information was given by the shopkeeper to the police. Police have also checked Albin’s phone. It has come to light that he had searched about rat poison and its effects on the human body on the internet.
Albin was taken to his home for a spot inspection. He was then subjected to a coronavirus test and later produced in the court.
The court has remanded Albin to 14 days of judicial custody. The court proceedings were carried through a video conference. In custody, Albin would be subjected to further investigation.
