Mangaluru: Withdrawal of ban order - Vendors open central market’s rear gate

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Aug 13: Taking advantage of the withdrawal of its earlier order by Mangaluru City Corporation here for technical reasons, vendors who were earlier conducting business at the dilapidated central market building wanted to resume operations again on Thursday August 13. The city corporation has withdrawn its order citing coronavirus pandemic as a reason for the ban order was creating problems in its legal battle.

The central market main door has not been opened. However, some merchants opened the rear gate on their own. A few shops also began operations.

The city corporation officials have been blocking efforts being made by the retail merchants to resume business at this old, dilapidated and congested building. The vendors were seen demanding the personal presence of the city corporation commissioner. They also have been demanding for the copy of the court order restraining them from conducting business again.

Boycott Central Market... don't allow any trucks to enter city limits. This place is a real mess and can collapse at any time. Those who supported opening now will pay big for this.

The structure is weak. Any moment during the rains chances of collapsing are more. Do you want casulities. Then do not repent. No compensation.

How do you say structure is weak? Just by its external looks or do you have any other data? Building can collapse if its foundation and pillars are week.

Many old buildings are there .. reason is not sufficient.
If paint looks old, then repaint it.
If buildings has many cracks, and leakages then think about demolishing it.

Waiting for disaster in this building. People are foolish to risk life in this. Corona and building collapses are common threats here. Wise people will stay away from doing purchase here.

Demolish the building as early as possible.
Start contacting spacious central market with enough place for parking and other fecilities.
No need to open in hurry again.
Take concrete decision by corporation autho without bow to the demand of retailers.

The decision in the very first place to close the market was wrong. The corporation cannot close the market without an adequate alternate facility. And that adequate alternate facility is not baikampady. APMC yard in baikampady is outside the city far away and is not a practical solution at all.
