Kasargod, Aug 13: The customs officials at Kannur airport have succeeded in confiscating gold ornaments worth about Rs 45 lac which were being illegally transported through the airport.
Two people, both residents of Manjeshwar in the district, have been arrested.
The arrested people have been identified as Sattar and Sameer from Manjeshwar. They had arrived by flights from Sharjah and Dubai.
Customs department has intensified its vigilance at Kannur airport in view of the increased instances of illegal transportation of gold ornaments in the recent past. On August 6, gold ornaments worth Rs 56 lac had been recovered from two residents of Kasargod who had arrived from Dubai.
