Mangaluru: District administration lays down rules for incoming international passengers

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Aug 13: The Dakshina Kannada district administration has made it mandatory for all the international passengers arriving at Mangaluru airport to follow the rules stated below.

The administration has said that the passengers should have an active Indian local SIM. It stated that the passengers can use their own active local SIM if they have them, or ask relatives or family members to get an activated local SIM ready before their arrival. It also pointed out that new SIM cards are also available at the airport.

The passengers also need to install, register, and active login in respect of the three apps, Aarogya Setu, Quarantine Watch, and Apthamitra.

The passengers have to keep their mobile phones and internet data on continuously without any break as the administration would be monitoring their home quarantine, collect feedback, and may contact the passengers anytime during the 14 days compulsory home quarantine period.

They need to follow social distance rules, wear masks, and sanitize regularly. They also must cooperate with the officials of the district administration for free COVID-19 (RAT) test at the airport.

It has warned that violation of any of the above conditions and rules as well as home quarantine rules would expose them to the likelihood of being punished under section 51(b) of the Disaster Management Act 2005.

COVID itself is depressing for international travelers now such daily changes in new rules will makes hard to keep a track of what is the actual rule in place? I was asking friend of mine well educated in mangalore about what is the current rule if one has to travel to mangalore. His response was it changes every now and then and difficult to guess. Yes we required social distancing mask hand sanitizer etc. But SIM card, phone etc will hard for poor people to manage where people have lost jobs or going through financial stress and doing thier best to reach homeland so that it will be little easier. Govt has to understand and provide free facilities or devices as loan and once that quarantine is over return to the centre etc.
