Kaup, Jul 31: Padubidri police have registered a case against a youth who allegedly won over the trust of a lady by promising to marry her and then developed a sexual relationship with her, before shirking from his responsibility. He has been booked under various sections of the SC/ST  Atrocities Act and provisions of Indian Penal Code relating to rape.

Deekshit Poojary (26) from Padubidri has been named as the accused. The complainant recently gave birth to a child allegedly due to the above relationship. The complainant is said to be employed with Mangalore City Corporation.

The accused has been accused of convincing the lady who hails from a scheduled community, to accompany him to a lodge in his motorbike. By promising marriage, he developed a physical relationship last year. She became pregnant and recently gave birth to a baby at the government hospital, Karkala. It is said that Deekshit was informed of this matter.

The lady filed a complaint in Padubidri against Poojary as he reportedly has been making all efforts to escape from the responsibility. He is said to be already married. The police are investigating.
