Kasargod, Jul 31: District health officer, Dr A V Ramadas, has urged all concerned to note that an increase in coronavirus infection is a serious matter. He also called upon people to realise that programmes like post-funeral rituals and marriages have been major contributors to the increase in COVID cases.
Ramadas urged people to strictly stick to the restrictions placed by the government to stop the proliferation of this disease when holding such programmes. He reasoned that the increase in the number of patients is an indication that rules are not being strictly followed. He said that clusters have been formed at different regions within the district. "Over 46 persons who participated in a marriage function in Chengala panchayat, 49 who took part in the post-funeral programme, 21 people who attended a marriage function at Chemnad panchayat and about 10 who participated in marriage at Trikkaripura have been infected. Therefore, there are chances of more clusters getting formed in the district," he stated.
