Hubli, Mar 5 (PTI) Night curfew was imposed in parts of the city after violence broke out in the wake of protests by a members of a minority community over an incident of certain offensive words written on the wall of a graveyard last night.
Police lathicharged in the communally sensitive Kamaripet area and some localities in old Hubli city after miscreants indulged in stone throwing, Hubli-Dharwad Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar told PTI.
One person was injured in the lathicharge and has been admitted to a hospital here, he said.
The office bearers of Anjuman-e-Islam including its president Mohammad Yusuf Savanur today met and resolved to submit a memorandum to Dharwad Deputy Commissioner Darpan Jain to protest against last night's incident.
In view of the sensitive situation, Jain and other officials visited the Anjuman office, received the memorandum and promised action to avert any trouble.
