Udupi: People fined for not wearing masks, failing to maintain social distance

Udupi, Jul 22: As coronavirus cases are increasing in the district, maintaining social distance and wearing masks is mandatory to prevent the spread of the virus. The government has ordered collection of fines from people who do not follow the guidelines.

In the circumstances, the deputy commissioner, district panchayat chief executive and additional deputy commissioner in the company of the district administration officials and gram panchayat officials went on a drive within the city limits and rural areas as part of an awareness programme on July 21 between 5 pm and 6 pm.

An amount of Rs 9,300 within the city limits and Rs 28,900 in the villages was collected as fine from those who violated the coronavirus regulations stated the additional deputy commissioner in a press release.
