Kalaburagi, Jul 22: On Tuesday, July 21, three women including an Anganwadi worker died as an arrangement for oxygen supply could not be made for them in time.
Akkanagamma Dayamani (50) from Honnakiranagi village in the taluk who happened to be an Anganwadi worker, had been suffering from breathing difficulty. She suffered from respiratory problems at around 2 am on Tuesday. She was brought to Gulbarga Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS). As she was not admitted there, she was taken to ESI hospital where also she was denied treatment pointing out shortage of ventilators. Even after going to three to four leading private hospitals, no one admitted her. Therefore, she was being taken to Hyderabad by an ambulance. She breathed her last on the way. Family members have blamed apathy of hospital staff for this death.
In the other incident, Gurubai (55), resident of Rajiv Gandhi Nagar here, died at GIMS Hospital on account of oxygen shortage. She had got tested for coronavirus on July 11 and was being treated at the ESI Hospital. Because of oxygen shortage, she was sent to GIMS Hospital from ESI Hospital on Monday. Her family members said that Gurubai died on Tuesday because of not receiving proper treatment.
