Udupi, Jul 21: The district's first court judge aged 45 years old tested positive for coronavirus on the night of Monday, July 20.
To prevent the spread of the virus, the court will be closed for two days and all related activities have been postponed. The primary and secondary contacts would be traced and the court would be sanitized, sources said.
According to a notification released by the district and session’s court judge Udupi - 'On account of the unavoidable circumstances due to Covid-19 pandemic, in order to sanitize the entire Court Complex in Udupi, all the appointments granted to the members of the Bar Associations for the physical hearing of cases, physical filing, collection of certified copies etc in respect of all the courts in Udupi shall stand cancelled and the functions of all courts stand suspended on 21-07-2020 and 22-07-2020.'
Further, Prl Civil Judge & JMFC, Udupi is placed in charge of the court of the additional civil judge & JMFC, Udupi till August 9 and shall attend to urgent matters in respect of the said court during this period. The cases listed for physical hearing during this period will be adjourned and further dates will be intimated to the concerned advocates through the e-Courts portal/app.
