Kundapur, Jul 17: The residential house of Mukund Nayak near Melgangolli Rama Pai math, Gangolli village collapsed completely on Thursday night due to incessant rain. Valuables, furniture and other items in the house got damaged and buried under the debris of the house. Mukund Nayak, his mother, younger sister and younger brother ran out of the house as they heard the cracking sound of the roof at about 9 pm and saved their lives. The entire house including the roof and the walls had collapsed to the ground.
Gangolli village accountant Raghavendra Devadiga, Gangolli gram panchayat member B Laxmikanth Madival, B Raghavendra Pai, B Ganesh Pai and others visited the spot and inspected the loss. Byndoor MLA B M Sukumar Shetty telephoned Kundapur tahsildar and directed him to submit a report. He then pacified the family members and assured them of providing compensation from the government.
The family who is economically weak has landed on the streets. Mukund Nayak who works as a salesman is the only breadwinner in the family. His younger sister is a student, his younger brother is specially-abled and the mother is a housewife. The family has suffered a devastating blow from the incident.
