Bengaluru, Jul 16: The state government has been saying that a large number of migrant workers and others who had gone away from the state before the lockdown, have returned after the lockdown terms were relaxed. But it now transpires that the government does not have any exact data on this issue.
The fact that many people are returning to Karnataka without registering their names in the Seva Sindhu app has created problems for the people. The officials said that the government, which feels that asymptomatic people coming into the state have been responsible for spreading coronavirus on a large scale in Karnataka, plan to attend to this issue once the current lockdown period comes to an end.
As per the Seva Sindhu app, till July 10, 4.61 lac people have come back to the state while 9.96 lac people had migrated to other states. The officials say that in fact, a large number of people have returned to Karnataka, but detailed information is lacking. This is so because many people have come back by road. Moreover, the government has not made it compulsory to register names of people in the portal. Many have not travelled by buses and trains after registering names, a senior officer said. To obviate the problem, it is said, a proposal to issue ID to people coming into the state is under consideration.
