Mangaluru, Jul 15: "The district administration is expected to arrange for quarantining of people coming from abroad in different places. It is found to be violating the rules by sending such people directly to the hospital. Because of this faulty procedure, the number of coronavirus cases in the district is going up," said former city mayor, Kavitha Sanil.
Addressing a press meet here on Monday, Kavitha noted that people coming from abroad were sent to lodges of their choice or of the government's choice by the district administration. But now, such people are directly being taken to hospitals by vehicles. After that, their throat swab samples are collected and tested. Such hospitals are also frequented by people seeking treatment for various other ailments. Therefore, sending people arriving from other countries directly to hospitals is not right," she asserted.
She also said that in many cases, those who are accommodated in hotels are sent to their homes even before the test reports are received, after stamping their palms. Once they are sent to home quarantine, there is no one to keep track of their movements. I have raised this issue with the district in-charge minister," she revealed.
