Beltangady, Jul 15: It is reported that on Monday, two sides, one representing the owner of Hallimane Resort in Ujire village in the taluk, and the other gang made up of customers, fought it out at the said resort. In this connection, complaint and counter complaints were filed against each other at Beltangady police station on Tuesday July 14.
The accused persons happen to be Praveen, who owns the said resort, and his companions, Manoj Kunjarpa, Ranjan Kadambu, Prajwal, Ganesh Shetty Kuntini, Sharat Kunjarpa and some others. The complainants have alleged that Girish from Kodange House in Nidle village and his friends were badly beaten up by the accused.

Girish along with friends, Sandesh and Balakrishna Shetty, had visited Hallimane Resort at Ujire on Monday. They had food at the resort, settled the bill, and were moving out when reportedly resort owner Praveen and his accomplices raked up some irrelevant issue, which resulted in verbal spat between the two groups. It is said that the movement of Girish and his friends, Sandesh and Balakrishna Shetty, was blocked and they were assaulted badly.
In the complaint it is also mentioned that Rs 1,98,000 cash Girish had in his trousers pocket, and a four-sovereign gold chain he was wearing, and a golden chain of Sandesh, were forcibly snatched by the gang. They also were posed with a death threat if they filed a police complaint, Girish said.
On the other hand, Savita Baptist (34), a partner of the said resort, has filed a complaint in which Girish, Bharath, Balakrishna and Sandesh have been named as accused. The complainant said that these people were stopped from consuming liquor inside the resort, which angered them. They reportedly used abusive words and attacked the people in the resort, she said.
Both the complaints have been registered at Beltangady police station. The police are investigating.
