Kundapur, Jul 14: Kundapur unit of the Indian Red Cross Society on Monday July 13 handed over an improvised model ventilator donated by it to the government hospital here. Minister, Kota Srinivas Poojary, who handed over the ventilator, appreciated Indian Red Cross Society's local unit for joining hands with the government in its drive against coronavirus by providing a ventilator.
"Many people coming into the state from foreign countries and Maharashtra are found to be coronavirus positive. We therefore are considering the option of testing them before allowing them to enter the state. We are pooling details of facilities available like beds and other things. We keep hearing that doctors and staff at the government hospital here have been looking after patients with care and concern. I appreciate them, and also the police department and ASHA workers for their selfless service to the society," he stated.
Red Cross Society chairman, Jayakar Shetty, gave information about the society's activities and said that the society thought of providing ventilators as the hospital here has been serving as a role model for others.
Administrative medical officer of the hospital, Dr Robert Rebello, spoke on the occasion. Red Cross Society Udupi district president, Basur Rajeev Shetty, district secretary, Balakrishna Shetty, and office bearers were present. Society vice president, Umesh Putran, welcomed the gathering. Secretary, Seetaram Shetty, presented the programme, treasurer, Shivaram Shetty, proposed a vote of thanks.
