Kundapur, Jul 13: As coronavirus continues to strengthen its grip across the district, traders in Kundapur municipal council limits have set in motion a voluntary bandh every afternoon from 2 pm from July 13.

Shop keepers were seen closing their shutters from 2 pm. Earlier on Sunday, there was confusion among the people on whether a lockdown will be declared in Udupi or not. Even after the administration confirmed that there was not going to be a lockdown, traders are looking forward to operating their business for only half a day and thereby adhering to a voluntary bandh.

As wide publicity regarding the lockdown was given, customers came rushing and bought necessary commodities. Meanwhile, the shop keepers have said that there is no pressure on anybody to close their shops.

It was observed that more than 80 per cent of shops were shut down in the afternoon in Kundapur.
