Mangaluru, Jul 6: Deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh on Monday July 6 dismissed rumours about a half-day lockdown in the district and said that no such decision has been taken.
Amid rising number of coronavirus cases in the district, messages about lockdown in the afternoons have been going around on social media. However, the DC clarified that no change has been made in the restrictions.
Dismissing the rumours, the DC said, "A message that there will be lockdown in the afternoons has gone viral on social media including WhatsApp and Facebook. It is false."
The message that was circulated on social media created confusion among the public. Offices were contacting media persons seeking clarifications. The deputy commissioner clarified after the matter reached her too.
"At present, curfew has been imposed in the district every night from 8 pm to 5 am. Lockdown is being imposed throughout the day on Sundays, and it is relaxed on other days of the week. There are no changes in lockdown restrictions for now," clarified the DC.
