Mangaluru, Jul 3: AutumnMind.com, an online counselling platform for India was officially launched by Dr Veerendra Heggade of Dharmasthala for the general public recently. The portal is promoted by Ecolink Institute of Well-being, Mangaluru.
Launching the website through an online message in a Zoom conference attended by its therapists and counsellors from all over India, Veerendra Heggade said online counselling is relevant at present situations and its services are easily available to the beneficiaries.
"Earlier, Indian families were joint families and elders in the family played the role of counsellors, who managed the emotional stress in the family," observed Heggade. "But, the situation has changed with nuclear families who now require emotional support from elsewhere," he added.
Autumnmind.com is an online portal connecting people with emotional problems to a well qualified and experienced counsellor who speak their language. The portal has psychologists and counsellors with post-graduation in Clinical Psychology and years of experience who hail from various parts of India and speak almost all major Indian languages.
Padmashri Dr B M Hegde, former vice-chancellor of Manipal University was the chief guest of the function. He interacted with the counsellors via Zoom conference and asserted that psychotherapy is more powerful than medicines in healing patients. “A pat on the back and an empathetic listening reduce heart attacks," said Dr Hegde, who is also an internationally known Cardiologist.
There are over 25 counsellors in the organization who hails from New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Mangaluru and Kerala and speak almost all Indian languages. There are five counsellors from Mangaluru who speak Kannada, Tulu, Konkani, Hindi and English too.
Dr Thomas Scaria, the managing director of the AutumnMind.com who coordinated the conference said, "Autumn is a beautiful season in one’s life and our mission is to guide people to experience this joy and beauty of the season within themselves through psychological counselling."
Ronnie Thomas, coordinating the activities said, "Autumnmind.com has six sections including parental and child counselling, addiction management, mental health counselling, relationship counselling, and special packages like smartphone addiction, NLP, spiritual counselling, etc."
Apart from giving online counselling services, the portal also organizes webinars and media conferences on a regular basis. AutumnMind organized a webinar on smartphone and internet addiction in collaboration with the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) and a media conference on International Day against Drug Abuse in collaboration with Janajagruthi Vedike, Dharmasthala in the past month.
