Mangaluru, Jul 1: Milagres College, here, on June 30 hosted a remarkable international webinar in its decennial year on the topic ‘Financial Crisis and its Impact in Sustainable Eco-Tourism’. The topic was deliberately chosen to take into account the prevailing conditions caused by the pandemic COVID-19. The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Milagres College organized this webinar in association with the NAAC unit of the college.
The resource persons of the webinar were Dr Alexander Trupp, associate professor, Sunway University, Malaysia and editor-in-chief of the Scopus-indexed Austrian Journal of South-East Asian Studies (ASEAS) and Dr Benedict Valentine Arulanandam senior lecturer, Sunway College, Malaysia. These two scholars are known for their erudition in their chosen fields.
The webinar was hosted on Google Meet and live on You Tube platform. The participants were global in nature ranging from USA, UK, Austria, The Middle East and Pan India. There were around 1350 participants. Dr Alexander Trupp spoke on 'Tourism and the Sustainable Goals' and Dr Benedict Valentine Arulanandam on 'Navigate Financial Crisis During this Pandemic'. These talks were very elaborative, intermixed with corroborative evidences and examples. The involvement of the participants could be measured when they raised thought provoking inquisitive queries which were replied with equal clarification.
Fr Michael Santhumayor, the principal of the college welcomed the participants and introduced the speakers highlighting the significance of the webinar. Cassin Rodrigues, vice-principal, proposed the vote of thanks. The webinar was compered by the NAAC coordinator, Eva Manorama, senior faculty of the department of commerce.
The webinar was carefully planned with all the technical requirements by an expert team led by Denzil D’Costa, senior faculty and Roshan Coelho, faculty of the department of Hospitality Science.
