Mangaluru, Jun 29: “COVID-19 pandemic that has spread in the world has troubled everybody in one way or the other. Therefore, groups and associations should conduct relief work considering the needy,” said Rotarian P H F Allen Vinay Louis.
He was speaking as the chief official in the installation of the Rotary NITTE office bearers for the year 2020-21. Suresh Shetty was installed as president and Allen Roshan D’Mello was installed as secretary. “It is sad that young people are resorting to suicides due to depression these days. It is necessary to face society in such circumstances. Rotary Club can begin different schemes under the situation.”
Zone 5 assistant governor, Rotarian P H F Navin Ameen released ‘Nirupa’ special edition of Rotary NITTE. Rotarian Dr Mahadeve Gowda honored the new office bearers.
Nine corona warriors, Asha workers from NITTE who cooperated to ably face COVID-19 were felicitated. Distribution of masks and books to students of primary school and high school was set in motion. Rotarian Yogish Hegde, who provided free masks, polytechnic college’s Dhanalaxmi and Durga tailor’s Prabhaker who helped in their preparation were honoured. Rotarian Dr Roshan Fernandes and Rotarian Dr Raghavendra Bayari who received PhD and NITTE College alumni Aditya who prepared a website to provide information during COVID were felicitated.
Rotarian Shilpa M K and Rotarian Jochim Michael Menezes who joined the Rotary organization were administered oath. Thermal check and sanitizer were arranged. Nearly 50 people took part maintaining social distance.
Outgoing president, Rotarian P H F Dr Veenadevi Shastri Math welcomed the gathering. Secretary, Rotarian Allen Roshan D’Mello read the annual report of the club. N S A M school students sang a prayer song. Rotarian Arvind Kumar compered the programme.
