Udupi, Jun 30: The Udupi District Youth Congress vice president, Manjunath Bhandary inaugurated the Digital Youth workshop at an event organized at the Congress Bhavan Brahmagiri here on Tuesday June 30.
Digital Youth is a pre-event meeting of D K Shivakumar’s swearing-in ceremony ‘Pratigna Dina’ as president of KPCC, is scheduled on July 2.
After the inauguration, addressing the youth, Manjunath Bhandary said that getting into direct politics must be done with the attitude of working in favour of the people based on their needs and encouraged the youngsters to take up leadership. "If you want to stand in politics, work in favour of the people and respond to their problems. Mobile or social media campaigns will not convert as votes. Let us make use of this workshop to develop leadership quality in you. Leaders will always be there in the forefront, so now is the time to decide your position.
"I worked hard for many years in Congress to reach this position. If anyone wants to be a panchayat member, exhibit the leadership quality in you. Do not follow others. Just organize the party by taking the initiative on your own."
He further emphasized the importance of discipline in life. "Some people are working for the party while some for individuals. Participating in swearing-in-ceremony is not a responsibility but an opportunity. Today’s youth should decide if he wants to be a leader or a follower. Each problem has a solution. Let them decide first," Bhandary said.
Former minister, Vinay Kumar Sorake addressed and said that the Constitution is like our soul and its stability is important in the party. "Only when we participate in Congress activities, the programmes will succeed."
Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, president, District Congress Committee, Vishwas Amin, president, District Youth Congress, U R Sabhapathi, president, task force committee, Harish Kini, Prakhyath Shetty, Habib Ali and others were present.
