Mangaluru: Man tries to end life after testing positive for coronavirus

Mangaluru, Jun 30: A person found to have been infected with coronavirus, tried to commit suicide near the Clock Tower in the city on Monday, June 29.

A worker from Uttarakhand was working in an under-construction building near Hampankatta here. As he displayed coronavirus symptoms, he had been admitted into a private hospital here. His throat swab sample was sent for testing, and he tested positive for coronavirus infection.

Therefore, health department officials arrived on Monday to take the infected person to Wenlock Hospital. When he was being made to board the ambulance, he suddenly escaped. The officials chased him, and he tried to end his life near the Clock Tower.

But, the Bunder police succeeded in convincing him to not commit suicide and sent him to Wenlock Hospital for treatment, sources said.
