Bengaluru, Jun 29: With a growing number of COVID-19 patients in Karnataka, especially in Bengaluru, Karnataka chief minister B S Yediyurappa has asked private hospitals to dedicate 2,500 beds for COVID-19 in Bengaluru.
The chief minister chaired a meeting on Monday with representatives of private hospitals and asked them to dedicate 2,500 beds for the virus-infected patients by Tuesday. Later, speaking to reporters, revenue minister R Ashok, who is also in charge of handling COVID-19 for Bengaluru, said 750 beds would be available on Tuesday and another 1,500 beds by the end of the week.
A meeting with 11 private medical college managements would be held on Tuesday, and they would be asked to dedicate 5,000 beds of the total available 10,000 beds in hospitals attached to colleges.
The CM appealed to the people not to get anxious about the disease as the cases were very less compared to other metropolitan cities in the country. The chief minister is expected to announce new lockdown guidelines after the first week of July.
