Mangaluru: Amid rising coronavirus cases, MCC closed to public for one week

Mangaluru, Jun 28: In the wake of rising number of coronavirus cases in the city, the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) will be closed to public from Monday June 28.

Public will be banned from entering the MCC building for a period of one week from Monday, informed city mayor Diwakar Pandeshwar.

The decision to close the MCC has been taken as a precautionary measure, he said.

However, a help desk will be set up outside the MCC building where people can submit their applications and requests.

On Sunday June 28, the city reported three deaths due to coronavirus. The victims were a 57-year-old woman from Bantwal, a 31-year-old man from Suratkal and a 51-year-old woman from Jokatte.

    Dear Bhandar sir, I feel conducting sslc exams is the decision of education minister who was appearing every two days with some unwanted news about conducting exams. This is not the decision of MCC. MCC worked as per the guidelines and pressure by the education department. So the arrangements are done accordingly.....They started arrangements for conducting exams when udupi had more infections. Every parent should have taken the bold step unitedly....In this portal, very few were against our comments and in support of the government saying exams are must.. Now children are infected still minister and department is not bothered. They will not send their to school but get study material and make them sit and study at home by hiring professionals. Now new drama of the interference of child right commission... saying if school do not open, early marriage it seems and they give some other non sense reasons... Just imagine the anxiety/tension/fear among the children now.....education should build our children not meant for destructing them..killing them. Prayers will not work... Only safety and taking care...

    Now see... You know what now?
    It's more than likely a Community Spread here too !
    They are honestly risking it and going too far !
    Daiji played a very important role regarding the time line of re opening of schools.
    However the pressure to put of SSLC exams was not in full force.
    Now we Pray as we have been all long ...

    when decision has been taken to close the MCC in view of increasing Number of cases then why not a decision is taken to stop or postpone the SSLC exams. why are these Uneducated Ministers playing wit the life of children. its just arrogance and egoistic attitude of education minister to prove himself.

    Please renew all trade license next year. you are not giving challan for payment & printed trade license we are asking daily basis. First learn to change the attitude your staff behaving very bad & arrogance.. people are waiting in outside for trade license you are not bother about that. You are distibuting trade license only to agents.

    Readers, this is a clear indication, which suggests a rise in Covid19 infections in Dakshin Kannada district.... The city is near normal, traffic is bustling, markets are operational, citizens should now be more cautious, they should not venture out without a facemask, senior citizens and young children, should limit their exposure in public places.... Stay safe and be healthy, as prevention is better then cure !!!!

    If you close the MCC then close other Govt. Offices and Banks also where public are coming for their work done etc. Close down the services of buses also as more than the limit prescribed passengers are travelling . Review all these aspects.

    Govt wants to open schools..... why not keep MCC open. Maintain social distancing, wear masks & use sanitizer. Corona won't touch you..... that's what you told the school children!! If adults can't follow these rules how can you expect children to follow them. Shame on you all...!!
