Mangaluru, Jun 27: MLA U T Khader said that a ward committee would be formed in Ullal town municipality limits to ensure that the government guidelines are implemented strictly in the region.
Addressing media here on Saturday June 27, Khader said, "As many as 12 persons belonging to the same house tested positive at Ullal Azadnagar. Even the police officers of Ullal tested positive for coronavirus. General public can stay at home and be safe but what about the officials who are on duty for the people's safety who put their life at risk and work day and night? District administration needs to trace the source of infection of public servants. Health department has conducted tests for policemen at Ullal police station," he said.
He raised concern on the growing number of cases in the areas surrounding Ullal. "There is a rise in corona cases at Ullal in the areas like Mastikatte and Azadnagar. The locals of affected areas have voluntarily called for sealed down. Ward committees will be formed in Ullal town municipality limits to ensure government guidelines are strictly followed. Ward committee will make sure that the area will be sanitized, people wear mask and government guidelines are followed strictly," Khader said.
He said that the government has issued quarantine guidelines for those who arrive by flight, bus and car but there is no proper quarantine guidelines for drivers who arrive by trucks. "The lorry drivers travel to different states and they are allowed to enter in to the district unchecked. Government has to consider this issue seriously," Khader said.
Random checking at Ullal would commence from Monday, June 29. Tests have already been conducted for the policemen. Checking would be done for all the street vendors, rickshaw drivers and fish vendors. He assured that there is no need to panic whoever has come in contact with positive patients rather they should voluntarily come forward and inform, said Khader.
Khader further said that the government has created history by increasing the petrol and diesel prices daily. "The price of petrol and diesel today stands equal which has never happened before. Petroleum minister should clarify on the rising petrol and diesel prices," he said.
