Kolkata, Feb 16 (IANS) The city received a spell of drizzle Tuesday and more rains could play spoilsport in India's push for victory against South Africa at the Eden Gardens.
If the meteorological department forecasts come true, the city is due for more showers Wednesday.
"The forecast for the next 24 hours for the city is that rain or thundershowers may occur in some areas, besides a partly cloudy sky," an official of the Regional Meteorological Centre here told IANS. Around 7-30 pm, there was a spell of drizzle in the city.
A rain interruption would be the last thing skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni would want as India have South Africa on the mat at stumps on the third day of the second Test here Tuesday. South Africa are fighting to save the Test, trailing India by 341 runs.
India need to win the Test to level the series after South Africa won the first cricket Test by an innings in Nagpur. Also at the stake is Test cricket's number one place. Dhoni's boys are now the numero uno team, but South Africa will reclaim the crown they lost to India if they can draw the match.
