Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 18: As many as 23 fresh cases of novel coronavirus were reported in Dakshina Kannada, while no new cases were reported in Udupi on Thursday June 18.
In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 45,364 people have been screened so far, including 402 on Thursday.
As per the district health bulletin, a total of 11,356 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which 10,891 have tested negative, and 409 positive, including 10 persons from other districts. Out of these, 225 are currently active. As many as 176 persons have recovered and been discharged, and eight deaths have occurred so far.
Six male patients including a 12-year-boy were discharged from Wenlock on Thursday.
Two male patients aged 52 and 70, who are serious, are being treated in the ICU.
As many as 140 samples were sent for testing on Thursday. Reports of 259 samples were received on Thursday, out of which 23 tested positive and the rest negative. Reports of 56 samples are awaited.
Among the 23 positive tested patients on Thursday, there are 21 males and two females. Twenty-one among the positive tested patients are Saudi returnees, while the other two have contracted infection from P-6618, a 4-year-old girl who returned from Mumbai on June 5 and tested positive on June 13.
As many as 29 persons have been admitted for observation.
A total of 5,979 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. On Thursday, 28 cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) were reported. As many as 70 people have been screened in mobile fever clinics.
Udupi
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 4,820 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 12 on Thursday, and a total of 4,862 have completed 14 days of quarantine including four on Thursday. As many as 724 persons are currently in home quarantine.
A total of 76 people are in isolation wards, including 12 fresh admissions on Thursday. Among them, six each have SARI and influenza-like illness.
As many as 885 people, including seven on Thursday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 13,140 samples have been collected so far, including 107 on Thursday, out of which 31 are COVID contacts. Out of them, 11,903 samples have turned out to be negative, including 27 on Thursday, and 198 reports are awaited. As many as 1,039 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, with only 92 cases being currently active. As many as 946 patients including 38 on Thursday who recovered have been discharged from hospital. One death has occurred in the district. One positive case has been transferred to Dakshina Kannada.
