Bengaluru, Jun 18: All the three major political parties in the state, the BJP, the Congress, and the JD(S), have finalised the names of their candidates for the memberships of the legislative council.

BJP will be fielding MTB Nagaraj, R Shankar and Sunil Valyapure. In a surprise move, Pratap Simha Nayak from Beltangady has also been cleared to enter the council poll fray. Pratap had in the past served in many capacities including the BJP Dakshina Kannada district president.

Surprisingly, the Congress has decided to field veteran leader, B K Hariprasad. Current member of the council from the Congress, Naseer Ahmed, has also got another chance. The JD(S) in all likelihood, might field Govindaraj from Kolar.

The last day for filing of nominations happens to be Thursday, Jun 18.
