Mangalore, Feb 4: Samanvaya, a registered NGO of Mangalore along with Maria Jyothi Women Association of Shakthinagar parish started a nine months’ free tailoring cum embroidery course in memory of late Fr Bernard D’souza at Shakthinagar Church Hall on Monday February 1.
The parish priest of Shakthinagar Fr Vernon Vas inaugurated the course. He urged the women to make good use of the opportunity.
Dr Ronald Cutinha, director of Samanvaya narrated the history and social activities of Samanvaya. Dr Pius Pinto, the managing trustee of Samanvaya, explained the benefits of the course. Parish vice -president Praveen Sequeira spoke on the occasion.
Jessy Monis welcomed the gathering and Ida Sequeira proposed the vote of thanks. Sandra Corda compered the programme. President of Women Association Irene, Sr Mabel D’souza and Chandrakala, tailoring teacher were present.
The organization intends to start similar courses in the nook and corner of Mangalore diocese for the benefit of women.
