Bengaluru, Jun 7: BBMP corporator and JD(S) member Imran Pasha was arrested by the police here on Sunday June 7 for allegedly violating coronavirus lockdown guidelines in a containment zone.
Imran Pasha, corporator of the Padarayanapura ward, had reportedly violated the lockdown and social distancing guidelines while returning home from a hospital, where he had been admitted after testing positive for coronavirus. His discharge from the hospital on Sunday was celebrated by his followers who welcomed him with garlands and burst fire crackers.
Instead of going straight home as per doctor's orders and following home quarantine, Pasha allegedly participated in a procession undertaken by his followers, violating both lockdown restrictions and social distancing guidelines.
Padarayanapura area is a containment zone which was sealed after several coronavirus cases were reported here.
Following the incident, Pasha was arrested by the JJ Nagar police and booked under the Disaster Management Act, 2005.
The police have also imposed Section 144 in Padarayanapura and completely sealed down the area. The police who arrived at the spot chased away everyone who was out in the streets. Two KSRP and Garuda squads have been deployed at the spot.
