Bantwal, Jun 6: "As the number of people arriving from outstation states and overseas in increasing considerably day by day, quarantine is being strengthened throughout the district of Dakshina Kannada. In addition, ‘Quarantine Watch’ is also implemented for the first time," said Sindhu B Roopesh, deputy commissioner (DC) of the district.

The DC visited various quarantine facilities in the taluk and inspected the system. Later, she held a meeting with corona warriors at the auditorium of Bantwal taluk panchayat and spoke to scribes.

The DC further said, "Passengers arriving from Maharashtra and other neighbouring states should not come out of their houses on the days specified for them to be under quarantine. In order to keep track over them, 'Quarantine Watch' technology is used. Divisions are made in ward level in villages. This responsibility is given to gram panchayat, officials, personnel and ASHA activists. Houses of people who will be under home quarantine will be identified and ASHA activists will visit those houses on a daily basis. Gram panchayat personnel will give photo evidence that the particular person is at home only.

"Covid-19 awareness is strictly implemented in airport and railway stations. Details of everyone who has alighted at both places is being collected. The process of placing them under home quarantine, lodge quarantine and admitting those who test positive to hospitals is going on continuously. The houses at Navoor, Amtoor and Netla Mudnoor villages in the taluk where the coronavirus positive cases are reported are sealed down and containment zone is formed.

"Health Watch survey activity, which registers the health information of everyone in the house is almost 90% complete in the taluk of Bantwal. This survey is conducted with the help of Anganwadi, ASHA activists and school teachers. This will be helpful in taking suitable precautions in Covid positive case areas.

"Strict action is being taken through Arogya Setu app against violators of quarantine rules. Everyone should cooperate with the administration in fighting the coronavirus pandemic.

"As many as 345 students from neighbouring Kerala state will arrive to write exams in the district of Dakshina Kannada. Arrangements are made to bring them to the examinations centres and drop back on displaying their hall tickets,” she said.
