Bangalore, Jan 29: The parents of Karnataka's new pace sensation Abhimanyu Mithun are thrilled their son will soon don the India cap and play Test matches for the country.
"We are very happy. What more can I say," Mithun's father M. Abhimanyu told IANS Thursday on the fast bowler being drafted for the Indian squad to play South Africa in the first Test beginning Feb 6 in Nagpur.
"His hard work has been recognised," Abhimanyu said.
Mithun, who made a sensational first class debut this season with a hat-trick and a match haul of 11 wickets against Uttar Pradesh in Ranji Trophy, is now playing Duleep Trophy match in Indore.
"We congratulated him. He does not talk much. Said he was very happy," Abhimanyu added.
Mithun finished with 47 wickets (23.23 average) in nine Ranji Trophy matches, and together with another fast bowler R.Vinay Kumar (46 wickets, average 19.69) was instrumental in taking Karnataka to the finals where they lost to Mumbai.
