Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, May 30: The names of Mangaluru - Bengaluru and Karwar - Mangaluru trains do not figure in the first phase of trains proposed to be run by the southwestern railway.

It is gathered that the above trains will be introduced in the second phase of the post-lockdown period. From June 1, trains between districts within the state will become operational.

Buses are now running between the city and Mysuru. But there is no provision of people aged above 65 and children below ten to travel by bus. But these restrictions have not been imposed in respect of trains. Therefore, more and more families are likely to choose trains over buses.

Dakshina Kannada MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, said that the need to start these trains has been taken up with the minister of state for railways and that the minister has supported the idea. He said that even railway consumer associations have drawn his attention towards the need to run the trains. He said that the system that has become haphazard now on account of coronavirus situation, will be brought on track soon.
