Bengaluru, May 29: Minister S Suresh Kumar revealed that every student appearing for SSLC examination will be provided with two face masks. He also revealed that thermal scanners will be provided to all the examination centres by the examination board. Kumar also said that various institutions and organizations like Bharat Scouts and Guides have joined hands in holding SSLC examination in a smooth way.
The minister said that although the examination board has undertaken all precautions, responsibilities of educational institutions to hold the examination in a safe environment has increased. Maintaining a one-metre distance between students in examination centres, maintaining social distance when entering the examination room should be strictly followed, he stated. He also asked the examination centres to keep additional rooms ready to enable students who are ill in the interests of other students. He also said that the institutions should coordinate with department officials to undertake a health check of students and also to take interest in allowing the children of migrant workers to appear for the examination as a special case.
The institution heads have been asked to meet every student and their parents before the commencement of the examination in an attempt to instil confidence in them about holding the examination in a safe environment, he requested. He said that even the high court has supported the decision of the education department to hold SSLC examination in the interests of the future of the students, by disposing of the public interest litigation.
As per the guidelines, no examination centre can be opened in containment zones, only 18 to 20 students can be accommodated in a room, at least two rooms should be set aside to accommodate children suffering from cold, fever, cough and other symptoms. In case there is a shortage, rooms from nearby schools can be used. Children are allowed to travel free of cost in government buses. Two children will be seated at each desk, and there will be a three feet distance between two desks. A health centre for every 300 students will be set up. Paramedical staff, Bharat Scouts and Guides' two volunteers will be deployed. Sanitizer and face masks are compulsory for all students. Students not wearing masks will be provided with masks by health staff. Temperatures will be measured with thermal scanners. Children of the hostel, residential schools and migrant children will be allowed to appear for the examination in nearby centres. Separate examination room for students from containment zones will be arranged. In case students of containment zones are unable to appear for the examination, they will be treated as fresh candidates in the supplementary examination.
