Mangaluru/Udupi, May 28: As many as 24 tested positive for coronavirus in Dakshina Kannada (DK) on Thursday, May 28. Another 29 tested positive in Udupi. Ten patients who have cured were discharged on Thursday in DK.
As reported earlier, all the 24 to be tested positive in DK have travelled from Maharashtra. Ten people including a 6-year-old boy who had cured after treatment were discharged.
In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 42,397 people have been screened so far including 133 on Thursday. As many as 27 people are currently admitted in NIT-K Surathkal quarantine facility. Another 28 are quarantined in ESI hospital.
As many 6,073 people have completed 28 days of quarantine.
A total of 8,676 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which reports of 6,725 tested negative, and 105 positive, out of which 59 are currently active. As many as 39 persons have recovered and been discharged, and seven deaths have occurred so far.
Out of the 105 positive cases, 97 are from Dakshina Kannada and eight patients are from other districts.
As many as 58 samples were sent for testing on Thursday. Reports of 113 samples were received on Thursday out of which 89 were negative and 24 positive.
Reports of 1,004 samples are awaited. As many as 43 people have been admitted for observation.
A total of 4,361 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. On Thursday, five cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) were reported.
A total of 25,996 migrant workers from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan and Jharkhand have been sent home by special Shramik trains.
Udupi
As reported earlier, 29 people tested positive. Twenty-six have come from Maharashtra, two from Telangana and one from Kerala. All of them were under quarantine.
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 3,678 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 40 on Thursday, and a total of 4,687 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including 97 on Thursday. As many as 65 persons are currently in home quarantine and 8,168 are under institutional quarantine.
Altogether, 35 high-risk persons and 49 low-risk persons are under hospital quarantine. A total of 74 people are in isolation wards, including nine fresh admissions on Thursday. Among them, three are coronavirus suspect, while four others have SARI and two influenza-like illness.
As many as 678 people, including 29 on Thursday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 10,965 samples have been collected so far, including 20 on Thursday. Out of them, 4,109 samples have turned out to be negative, and 6,707 reports are awaited. As many as 149 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, including a death. Three have recovered, and 145 are active.
Kasargod
Over 18 new cases emerged in the district on Thursday, raising the number of cases to 81 on the third day. Of the newly infected cases, 13 came in from Maharashtra, four have travelled from abroad and one is from Tamil Nadu. Those infected include a woman. Of the 81 cases reported, 57 infected cases are from Maharashtra.
