New Delhi, Jan 17 (IANS) A K Mattoo has resigned as president of Hockey India and all other administrative positions in various sports bodies, saying that hockey has been maligned in the past few days.
"I have resigned from all positions," Mattoo told a TV channel Sunday. He was the treasurer of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and also an office bearer of the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
Mattoo, who submitted his resignation to the Indian Olympic Association president Suresh Kalmadi, said he resigned from the sports bodies on personal reasons.
"Hockey has been maligned in the past few days," Mattoo said few days after Indian hockey faced a deep crisis on the issue of outstanding payments to the players.
