Udupi, May 3: During this critical lockdown period, Varamballi Gram Panchayat members with the help of donors distributed food kits worth Rs 2 lac to 500 houses on Saturday, May 2.
"There are 18 members in the Varamballi Gram Panchayat, Brahmavar. Led by panchayat president Naveenchandra Nayak and with the help of the members, Devan Nayak, Gopal Devadiga and former panchayat president Nityananda B R, food kits were distributed to the middle class and impoverished families," said former Varamballi panchayat president and local leader Birthi Rajesh Shetty.
The other members of the panchayat S Narayan, Christin, Margret, Janaki, Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project self-help group, Nagabana friends, Indiranagar were present.
The food kits contained a total of 13 varieties of essentials - Rasam powder, turmeric powder, coconut, onion, garlic, jaggery, sugar, coriander, tea powder, coconut oil, salt and pepper.
The panchayat members delivered the kits to the doorstep of every house.
