Nottingham, Dec 16: Under the Mangalorean United Konkani Association (MUKA) Nottingham, the members of the association shared the joy of Christmas by singing Carols to the families of their members on 05th and 13th December under the able leadership of Sunil D’Cunha, the president of MUKA
Apart from the Christmas carols, the members of the group wore Christmas costume adding festive touch to the troupe. Joy Pinto and Melrick Rasquinha entertained the kids by their appearance in Santa Claus and in return kids thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and Santa chocolates. The members participated actively by singing carols with their melodious voices. It helped the families to get the momentum of the Christmas spirit during this time of Advent.It was a sheer dedication of the members that this traditional Mangalorean Christmas spirit of singing Carols by going to their parishners’ homes was made possible, not counting their efforts and time, in practicing and leaving behind other chores of busy family life.
MUKA’s liturgical secretary, Flossy Fernandes took great care in choosing carols and conducting practise. Deepak Alvaris added tune with his musical talent and guitar.
MUKA’s executive committee appreciates the dedication of its members both in participation and contribution. MUKA will celebrate Christmas 2009 on 27th December at Aspley Church Hall, Kingsbury Drive, Nottingham NG8 3EP. The programme will start with Eucharistic celebration at 3.00 p.m. followed by cultural programme.

Mr. Mavis and Stefan Before you comment please know the fact, as you commented this is not a single family publicity. We are Around 30 families living midlands in UK. Our aim is not showing publicity but keeping Konkani culture alive. Criticizing is very easy but organizing carols here in a freezing country is not easy task. Dear Mr. Mavis and Stefan on behalf of Muka I would like to let you know that we are about 30 families live here in East midland part of england(Nottingham,Mansfield,Derby Leistershire) which is 80 to 90 km apart and it took us 13 hours to(in two days) visit all members If ur comments are based on the pictures with some snacks???... then our members do like to offer since we had to travel extensively..yES we are a very large family and we are all gathereing on 27th for Christmas Celebration..WOULD YOU LIKE TO JOIN US ASWELL??..UR MOST WELCOME..merry CHRISTMAS
Yes... you are right Mavis. It looks like a family get-to-gether.
just 10-15 people celebrating christmas at home and getting media attention ! It is not good. Such xmas parties are taking place every corner of the world on daily basis these days. I suggest associatons should stay away from publicity greed, unless it is good and crowded function.
