Hyderabad, Dec 15: The Reddy brothers have registered another victory in their battle against various steps taken by the central and Andhra Pradesh state governments against Obalapuram Mining Company (OMC) owned by them. In the wake of a stay order they had earlier got from the state High Court against the Central Empowered Committee’s order to suspend mining activities, they have secured a stay order against the Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry against the company.
On Monday December 14, Andhra Pradesh (AP) High Court judge, Justice P Gopalakrishna, who took up the writ petition filed by OMC on Monday, signed the stay order. Supreme Court lawyers, Parasharan and C V Nagesh, had appeared for the petitioners, while advocate general of the state government and assistant solicitor general of central government, placed their arguments on behalf of the respective governments.
Janardhan Reddy, addressing a press conference thereafter, said that both the Andhra and central governments have got a slap for their evil designs through the stay order. He added that he does not get unnerved by the anti-publicity vendetta and that he has full faith in the judiciary. He reiterated that he has been providing employment to thousands of unemployed people by venturing into steel production for making optimum use of the iron ore extracted from here.
