Kundapur, Apr 7: In an incident which happened at Jaddinagadde in Amasebail in the taluk on Sunday, a farmer ended his life by hanging. It is said that he was depressed at the fact that fertile areca nut plantation he had cultivated over the years, had been allotted to another person during the recent family division of ancestral property.
The victim of this incident was Subraya Naik (58) from Jaddinagadde. The family had about 22 acres of land out of which he was having 2.9 acres of land which he had developed. It is said that recently, the entire property was shared among the eligible heirs, during which the areca nut plantation he had grown by putting in hard work went to some other members of the family.
Tensed over this development, he had tried to kill himself earlier too. On April 5, he left home with the stated purpose of collecting greens. However, later, it transpired that he had hanged himself to death from a tree near the agricultural field.
A case in this connection was registered in Amasebail police station.
