Mangaluru: Medical student's tweet to PMO for eggs, maggi - Met in 30 mins

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Apr 4: People are accustomed to getting on with life without fuss even when they do not get things they need during lockdown period. People occupying positions of importance might try to get some help by contacting people in strategic places.

A medical student here directly tweeted the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), seeking eggs and maggi. Surprisingly, her demand was met within 30 minutes flat.

The demand came from Saumya Singh, who hails from a north Indian state and stays in ladies hostel here. After finding on March 31 that all the shops were closed, Saumya tweeted the PMO seeking supply of eggs and maggi. This tweet was noticed by additional chief secretary in Karnataka urban development department Rakesh Singh. He conveyed information to the war room here, which is headed by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel. A team led by supervisor Pradyumna Rao contacted the telephone number and wanted to know what exactly the student needed. The student sought a dozen eggs and six packets of maggi. As per the instructions of higher ups, these things were promptly delivered that too free of cost.

Why pamper rich students with eggs & maggi when you cant feed poor migrant laborers who are dying of hunger on road trying to walk long distances to native places .Reflects poorly on our covid war room.

This Medical student very well apraoched the local Administration to get petty items like eggs, maggi, noodle etc. Why to tweet PMO for such petty matters as if the local Officers/authorities are dead.

You have a point in saying why should she tweet the PM directly. Important to know here whether she tried other means without success and finally tried this option. Nevertheless, should appreciate the process by which her demand was met. Good work.

This is in contrast to my experience. After a series of lockdowns being announced
by the district in charge minister always late at night without providing enough
notice to the public I wrote to the PMO about the arbitrary nature of declaring
lockdowns. I promptly received an acknowledgement. Mr. Anuj sharma, joint
secretary (public) in PMO was to handle the complaint. Nothing happened for
2 days. When the lockdown was extended for the consecutive 3rd day I tried
calling Mr.Sharma whose number and email were provided to me. No one was
taking my calls. Thereafter I wrote an email to him. No response to that either.
