Shivamogga, Apr 4: The district police took into custody 77 persons who were found to be performing namaz en masse in violation of lockdown, social distancing advice and prohibitory orders, at a mosque on Friday April 3. The have been kept in quarantine.
Seven among them have displayed symptoms of coronavirus infection, it is learnt. The incident happened in Kesavinakatte village near Ayanur in the district. After getting to know that a crowd had gathered to offer namaz, the policemen first locked them up, summoned the doctors and get the people checked.
Seven persons, who displayed symptoms of the infection, were admitted into McGann Hospital in the city through ambulance. The others were kept in the quarantine facility created in a school building nearby, it is gathered.
