Bengaluru, Apr 4: On Friday, four more coronavirus infection cases were confirmed in Karnataka. With this, the number infected persons in the state has risen to 128. So far, 11 have been discharged after they were cured of the infection, while three have lost their lives.
Three men from Belagavi and an aged man from Bagalkot, all of whom had taken part in the Tablighi Jamaat at Nizamuddin Delhi were detected with coronavirus infection on Friday. With this, these districts have forayed into the list of coronavirus-affected districts. With this, the number of affected districts in Karnataka has gone up to 15.
The health department is taking steps to find out the primary and secondary contacts of the infected persons, identify them as suspects and quarantine them at home and hospitals. All of them will be made to mandatorily undergo tests to determine whether they have been infected.
The state high court, on Friday, directed the central government to provide details of people from Karnataka who participated in the said programme at Nizamuddin, Delhi. The division bench of the high court, which took up an interim petition filed by advocate Geeta Mishra, through video conferencing facility, asked the government to identify the concerned based on the central government list, find out who among them are infected, and initiate suitable steps. It also asked the government to publish health bulletin in its website on a daily bass and also provide these details to electronic media and newspapers.
Those who attended the Tablighi Jamaat have been ordered to be kept in government quarantine for 14 days after then are admitted there, and to keep them separately under observation for 14 days after they return home. Helpline: 080 2971117.
