Mangaluru, Apr 3: Despite complete ban ordered on the movement of private vehicles on April 2 by commissioner of police Dr P S Harsha, violations by ignorant people continued on the city streets on Friday, April 3.
In a strict warning to violators not adhering to quarantine norms, the police chief warned of seizing their vehicles. But with the violations, it looked like people paid no heed to the warning and came out on the road. As many as 175 vehicles were seized across the city on Friday.

The number of vehicles impounded saw a rise as compared to the number of seized vehicles on Thursday which were 154. The commissioner had made it clear that the vehicles would not be allowed even if it was a medical emergency. If there was such a situation, the public was asked to reach out to ambulance services.
Meanwhile, the commissioner on Twitter handle clarified who would be an exception to the ban. "Bank employees on official duty will be allowed to use a private vehicle from home to office and vice versa on the production of official id cards as they have been declared as essential services. Doctors, nurses, paramedics, hospital administrators will be allowed to go in their private vehicle during their transit from home to the place of work. Media fraternity will be allowed if they have a valid pass issued by DIPR," his tweet read.
