Mangaluru, Apr 1: Compared to Tuesday morning when people were found to have queued up in front of provision stores as well as fruits and vegetable shops, the rush has been markedly less on Wednesday, April 1. As only a handful people were waiting when the shops opened at 7 am today, there was no problem in maintaining social distance and handling the crowd.
After three days of total lockdown, shops had opened yesterday at 6 am. The people, who were waiting to buy many things, had been seen to be in a hurry to make purchases. Perhaps a few wanted to stock up things, in the expectation that total lockdown might be clamped again.
The people are relaxed today as they find that most of the items they need are available and there is time till 12 pm to make purchases. They also seem to have taken respite from the knowledge that shops would be open every day henceforth. There also seems to a marked decrease in the unnecessary movement of vehicles on the city roads today.
Both the movement of people and situation at Mallikatte, Kadri area, Bijai Kapikad, Urwa Store, Mannagudde, car street etc have improved a lot.
