Belagavi, Mar 28: After a video in which a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) soldier is seen pleading to subject him for coronavirus test went viral, he was admitted into Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) Hospital at Hubballi.
The soldier, with his mask on, is seen saying that he has hundred percent symptoms of coronavirus infection. He is from Kanchinala village in Saundatti taluk in the district. He had reached his village from Hyderabad on March 17. He has been suffering from cough, fever and running nose since then and he had quarantined himself at home.
The soldier had approached KIMS, Hubballi, seeking to get admitted, as he said he has symptoms similar to COVID 19 infection. But the doctors had said he had no such symptoms and that only those who recently came from abroad are being screened for this virus. He went to the district hospital at Dharwad and got the same response.
Hurt by the response of the hospital staff, the soldier, who quarantined himself and got medicines, created a video, requesting the chief minister, B S Yediyurappa, to ask the doctors to get him tested. He said that his mother too has been suffering from cough and cold now and both are undergoing extreme problems. He pointed out that in spite of being a soldier, he is encountering this response, and wondered what would happen for common people.
Deputy commissioner of the district Dr S Bommanahalli, said that the soldier is being treated at KIMS Hubballi and there is no need to worry.
